Shmuel Weiss was born in Israel in 1946 on Moshav Avichail, a rural community just north of the coastal city of Netanya.
His educational background includes a BA in Arabic and the History of Islam from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an MA in Computers and Technology in Education from Tel Aviv University, and a PhD in Educational Curricula Development and Industry from Ben Gurion University of the Negev. During this time and for a period of 20 years, he also served in the Israel Defense Forces achieving the rank of Colonel.
Exhibiting creativity in his chosen profession of education, Weiss specialized in visual learning and concept mapping, i.e. organizing information into visual images in novel and effective ways. He has led some 100 workshops on the subject for teachers as well as business personnel, parents and children. He also published a book on the subject – one of 3 books he has written, illustrated and published.
Among the positions he has held are Pedagogic Director and Managing Director of Taasiyeda, an industry and education association. He was responsible for many initiatives in education and industry for outstanding college students, and is currently Managing Director of the College For All Association helping children from depressed areas achieve higher education.
Throughout his career, Weiss developed unique projects for understanding industry and industrial entrepreneurship in cooperation with the EU, and with industrial education leaders in Israel and abroad.
Married with four children and a granddaughter, Weiss' unconventional approach to most subjects, and his focus on technology along with the visual mapping of thoughts and concepts, is given interesting expression in his art.
